We were informed at the Grant Palmer Liaison Meeting last week of a new service operated by them: Service 24 - Bedford to Lincroft Middle School, via Kempston, Great Denham and Bromham.  This bus can be used by the general public and a peak-time service has already started.  A more frequent service will begin on August 1st.  The residents' association is involved and the results of the survey on passenger needs have been taken into account: people wanted buses to the Railway Station and Kempston.  The hospital and Bedford College will also be served.  Lincroft Middle School is due to expand as a result of the change from three-tier to two-tier schooling.

The 11 goes via the main road rather than the route through Queens Park. One would expect operation to take the form of a loop with buses going out on the 8 returning on the 11 and vice versa, but apparently not.

Grant Palmer 24 is not on Traveline nor on their own website.

It always seemed unlikely that Great Denham could support two competing routes.

It always seemed unlikely that Great Denham could support two competing routes.

Actually three routes if you think about it - 8 11 and 24!

Re the 11 withdrawal, there will be a limited service by Grant Palmer... from the second draft of BABUS Newsletter 35 (Spring 2018) which should be going out at the start of next week...

From Monday 5th March 2018
Stagecoach in Bedford Service 11
(Bedford – Biddenham – Great
Denham) Withdrawn, but see below for a
part replacement. (Incidentally Stagecoach
8 is also on diversion past the rail station at
the moment, until July).

NEW SERVICE Grant Palmer Service
11 (Bedford – Biddenham – Great
Denham) Some journeys from this service
are being maintained after Stagecoach have
pulled out – the 06.10, 06.49, 07.19 from
Great Denham, and the 18.12, 18.43 and
19.15 back from the railway station. Also
see Service 24 (below).

Grant Palmer Service 24 (Bedford –
Kempston – Great Denham) Revised
timetable for service 24, with journeys after
17.30 withdrawn (and replaced by Service
11).
